Habitat Creation
A way to give back to the community.
Habitat Creation is becoming more important as time goes on as a lot of habitat has
been lost over time from bushfires and man made impact on natural environments.
This is a great opportunity to give your dying/dead tree a second life by creating
chainsaw made hollows. This process is achieved by ''stagging'' the tree to make
safe, and gathering the right use of information on living requirements for the
targeted local wildlife. Our habitat creation is not limited to the tree.
We also do habitat creations for ground/aquatic animals such as frogs, fish, turtles etc.
Types of Habitat Creation
- Selective tree planting to support and attract wildlife
- Upcycling of timber for hollows to support bees, mammals, birds etc
- Retaining Dead trees for the use of habitat features
- Fracture pruning, creating a more natural process for Mycological and wildlife activity
- Wildlife monitoring
Why cant we just hang a nest box in a tree?
For certain animals like possums and less fussy birds, this can be done.
The downfall to plywood made boxes is that they are not insulated
enough for most native wildlife and becomes undesirable
for nesting in some cases. Certain boxes require maintenance as the hanging of nest
boxes for prolonged time can be detrimental to the trees health.
